Welcome to Gilly's Place

A few years ago my granddaughters asked me to put together a cookbook of about 20 family favorite recipes and when I did the 20 pages looked rather skimpy so I added more, and more, and more till their binders held 60. Heavily embellished I gave them to the girls at Christmastime. Every Christmas since then I've added 60 more pages to their collections and have reached the 300 mark...and they're looking forward to getting even more. These are not random recipes, they're all tried and true. Anyway, when word got around it seems everybody and their second cousin wanted a cookbook so I began selling them to cover the cost of materials and now I'm passing them on to others as digital freebies, who like me, enjoy family, friends, cooking, and sharing. Print the pages to a standard letter size and save them in any old binder that blends with your kitchen. Please do print them for yourself and gift-giving to family and friends but please do not claim as your own as it wouldn't be fair to the designers I buy from or the wonderful talent that is freely given by bloggers. I'd love to hear from you and if you leave a comment on a post I will reply on the same. Please don't leave anything on the 4shared page, I seldom think to check those.

Lobster Rolls

Hi all, hope you enjoyed the fourth more than I did.  I had set the breakfast table with a red, white, and blue denim theme as we enjoyed breakfast indoors, the fog was much too thick around here to enjoy eating outdoors.

I found these Liberty Bell salad plates at the Cracker Barrel just last week and I'm glad I had a chance to use them at least once this year.  After clearing the table it was paper and plastic the rest of the day along with a few Sparklers and Morning Glories since "real" fireworks are outlawed in Maine.  Here's a close-up of the salad plate...I just love it!

Centerpiece was simple...dollar store firecracker, 50s patriotic beads, and my little angel received in a swap a few years ago.  And, oh yes, a scrapbook page I still haven't found the perfect frame for.

But hey, the fourth is all about freedom, family, friends, and food!  And ours was a bust.  By early afternoon the skies had darkened considerable, there was a wind and chill in the air, and the showers and T-storm hit about four in the afternoon.  Ah well...

Thanks to you who have left comments, it always makes my day.
Kathymack, kitty's doing much better, still limping but the vet says he's just lazy  and I've got to stop carrying him up and down the stairs, in other words, stop babying him.   Do let me know how it works out with the rice flour.  I'm sure others here would like to know too.
Polly, always nice to hear from you.
Shawneegal, thanks, happy to please.  Come back anytime, we're open 24/7.

Now when it comes to lobster rolls I'm a traditionalist-a toasted New England style hot dog roll, clear lobster meat with good mayo and that's it but...occasionally something different comes along you just want to try and this recipe was it.  Found on Food.com it's not bad at all and maybe those of you who've had it at Fenway Park it will spark a memory of a game you once attended and you'll catch yourself smiling.  For what it's worth here it is, a favorite in the summertime.
